Double Trouble

25 Jul

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.  Mathew 6:34 KJV

God has the desire and ability to meet our needs, He is here for us NOW.  Because worry is fatiguing, we’re not to worry about tomorrow–much less next week or next month or next year.  We’re to live in the present.  The present–today–has enough trouble and affliction.  Why should we borrow trouble from tomorrow and worry about it today?  Why should we double today’s troubles?

Some of us are such talented worriers that we triple or quadruple today’s troubles.  We are to care about tomorrow, plan for tomorrow, but not worry about tomorrow; which frees up energy for the actual work of living today and trusting God for our daily needs.  When we do this, we are able to have clear-thinking responses to the issues we face.

Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.  Matthew 6:34 MSG
