Passion: Anecdote to Fear

15 Jun

Kate. Can you see the passion?

I’ve been mulling about the idea of passion since Sunday.  We visited our niece, Kate, who dives into life with total passion.  She teaches computers with passion, ministers to youth with passion, rock climbs and kayaks and hikes with passion.  She reads, plays the drums, trains her beloved German shepherd, pulls pranks, and loves God and others with passion.

Sunday morning, Mike taught about our purpose in life which is to be the recipients of God’s passionate love.  When we receive that love, fear is driven out, worry flees, and anxiety jumps ship.  Abandon yourself to God’s ardent love today.  And tomorrow.  And the next day.  Find a time.  And a place.  Just receive.

And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.  Ephesians 3:17b-19
